July 24th – The New Brunswick Botany Club is holding a walk on this date in the Covedell Rd. area near Tabusintac. Dave McLeod and Jim Saunders are leading the walk and MNC members will be welcome. We are likely to convene at Tim Hortons in Neguac at 10:00 am (this is when botanists start their day I think). Details will be confirmed.
August 12 – Friday … evening …. We can explore the Barnaby area, led by Anne Assaff, as well find out about her 2 trail cameras and also consider the night sky.
The alternative would be the following Saturday evening if the Friday weather isn’t cooperative. The sun is setting at 8:37 if my chart reading skills are up to snuff! http://www.timeanddate.com/sun/canada/miramichi?month=8 I propose we meet at Beaubears’ Co-Op for 6:30. Details will be confirmed.
Sept. 10th – The Nature Conservancy of Canada is holding a beach clean-up this day at Escuminac Point for ½ the day. We will fill out the day with Sonya Hinds showing us around and letting us know about the stewardship responsibility she has taken on for the parcels of land that the Nature Conservancy has acquired. Details will be confirmed.
Our first fall meeting will be on TUESADY Sept. 13. Ken Walker will be giving a presentation on the formation and make-up of Escuminac Pt., with particular reference to the peat bogs.
